| The celebrity wedding of the year never actually took place at Highclere Castle at the weekend. Ashley Cole and Cheryl Tweedy managed to deceive the media about the location of their much-hyped wedding on Saturday.
Staff at Highclere Castle, where the glamour model Katie Price, known as Jordan, married the singer Peter Andre late last year, admitted that they had agreed to take part in a deliberate charade to keep journalists away.
A security guard at the castle said that when word got out that the wedding had been booked at Highclere, Arsenal footballer Cole switched to another venue, but asked the Earl of Carnarvon, owner of the castle, not to deny that Highclere was still the venue.
The wedding actually took place on Friday with a star spangled reception at Wrotham Park on Saturday. Wrotham Park was previously used for the Oscar winning film Gosford Park.
The National Press weren’t really deceived, it was only a few celebrity spotters and representatives of the local press who turned up at Highclere Castle on Saturday.
The happy couple are currently on honeymoon in the Seychelles. |
