Organic festival coming to town
05th June 2006 8.53am

Healthy chocolate, free organic ice-cream and hand massages are just part of a unique chance for Newbury shoppers to explore the world of healthy eating and living.

Newbury.net can exclusively reveal that Kennet Shopping has teamed up with the town’s top healthfood store Nature’s Corner to bring an organic fayre to town on June 29.

The one-day showcase gives shoppers the chance to try fine cheeses, meat, cakes and bread, wine, fruit and vegetables, seeds confectionary and juices. There will also be a range of skincare products and clothes, among other items.

Kennet Centre manager Mag Williams, who is organising the event, told newbury.net: “Instead of treating our bodies to what they deserve, most of us stick with old habits of processed or conventional food."

“But as more people are aware of the effect of toxins, nutrition and taste, they’re seeking more opportunities to see what’s on offer.”

The one-off event will also see wolfberries on sale, which contain natural chemicals to suppress appetite, along with other benefits.

Mrs Williams said the event could become a regular feature of Newbury’s weekday offer, if it proves popular and successful.
