United for Newbury Day
25th April 2006 10.52am

West Berkshire’s Kick FM and AFC Newbury have joined forces to launch United For Newbury Day on Saturday, April 29th, the last day of the football season. The day has been organised in a bid to get the people of Newbury behind their local football team after a tough year on and off the pitch for the Faraday Road club.

Kick FM will be broadcasting live from the club through the afternoon, while there will be a bouncy castle and face painter for the young supporters, and a chance to take on goalkeeper Terry Burton in a penalty shoot out competition to win some fabulous prizes.

Ticket prices for youngsters have been discounted with a ‘Kid For A Quid’ scheme, as all under sixteens will get into the Faraday Road ground for just a pound!

Kick FM are also running a competition to find a youngster to be the team’s mascot for the day. The winner will receive a replica shirt signed by the team, a photo, a free ticket for their family and will lead the team out for the match! To enter the competition, visit www.kickfm.com and answer a simple question. All youngsters who enter the competition will be eligible for a special family ticket price of just £5 for two adults and two children.

James O’Neill, Programme Manager at Kick FM says, “Here’s a great opportunity for everyone who loves football to come and enjoy a brilliant day out at their local club. The club’s been through a tough year so it would be great for everyone to get behind the team. Manager Guy Whittingham’s done a great job developing a young side, with plenty of local talent.”

Chairman of AFC Newbury, Steve Hartley, says “I would like to thank Kick FM for their community spirit in launching the United for Newbury campaign day on Saturday 29 April 2006. It will be an excellent family day out for everybody and good opportunity to support the first team in their last game of the season against Alton Town."
