Drought forces hosepipe ban
13th March 2006 8.4am

Eight million customers served by Thames water will be affected by a hosepipe and sprinkler ban from April 1st. Water resources are extremely low following 2 consecutive winters with below average rainfall.

Newbury residents are being advised to use water sparingly to avoid major problems later in the summer. Advice includes taking a shower instead of a bath and always ensuring that washing machines and dishwashers have full loads.

Thames Water has a poor reputation for the amount of water leaking from faulty pipes. Newbury.net have been advised on several occasions of some leaks being totally ignored for several weeks.
