The Italians are coming to take the piazza
13th March 2006 0.15am

The scent of pancetta, salami and olives will be wafting through the Market Place this spring when Newbury’s first Italian market comes to town.

Newbury.net can reveal that the latest in the series of continental markets will set their stalls out from May 12-13.

The move also coincides with an influx of foreign influences for the Newbury Spring Festival, which will be in full swing when the Italians arrive, including the Budapest Symphony Orchestra and Soweto Gospel Choir.
