Bus boss says Park Way plan must be altered
12th March 2006 23.41pm

Two key projects in Newbury’s Vision could be delayed after Newbury Buses threatened to stay put until 2014 unless a new bus station is built – newbury.net can reveal.

The bus operator is worried that the £120m Park Way scheme only includes four bus stops, when Newbury Buses was promised a new station in return for vacating its Market Street station.

Manager Colin Thompson told members of Newbury’s steering group recently that Reading Buses – the parent of Newbury Buses – would “only leave its current site, on which it has a lease until 2014, if these were provided.

West Berkshire Council will choose its final developer from Redrow, David Wilson Homes, Grainger Trust and Odyssey, in May – two months later than planned.
