Postie overload
29th December 2005 17.13pm

Newbury Post Office has sorted through a massive 3m items since the start of the month – newbury.net can reveal. The Royal Mail has recently turned from losing £1m a day to making a profit of £1m a day, and morale has improved as a result.

Local MP Richard Benyon visited the Newbury Delivery Office before Christmas to thank them for their hard work in sorting and delivering our Christmas mail.

Richard paid tribute to the five star service we get from local Royal Mail staff. He said, “There is an enormous workload on post staff at this time of year and I wanted to thank them for all their efforts and to make sure they realise they are not taken for granted.
