| The Broadway music store MVC faces closure in the New Year unless a buyer can be found for the ailing company.
Administrators have been called in, as the firm blamed internet downloads and pirate DVDs for its faltering sales.
MVC was sold off by Woolworths in the summer, and has 700 staff and 73 stores nationally. All stores have traded through the Christmas period in the hope that a buyer could be found. A deal to sell the Newbury store to rival The Music Zone fell through at the 11th hour.
If MVC did close, it would follow Berry’s Newsagent, Speenhamland Post Office and Motorworld. However, clothes shop Girls Girls Girls and Dominos Pizzas have invested, while the Hethertons Café and Bar Cuba are being refurbished. |
