| Pizza parlour switches home
Domino’s Pizza is to move from its Cheap Street car park home to make way for a new cinema. The American fast-food chain has signed up to take over the former Sketchley’s dry cleaning shop in the Broadway, Newbury.
However, West Berkshire Council will have to give consent for the shop to convert to a takeaway.
PC reaches the cabbage patch
The jobless, disabled and pensioners are jumping to the front of the queue for an allotment. Newbury Town Council has drawn up new rules giving first refusal to those on benefits, signed off with a disability, and the over 65s. The politically correct rules will be debated at a committee meeting tonight (Monday), and come amid a surge in popularity for allotments from young families. The council has also insisted that allotments will go first to those living in Newbury, and who don’t have another allotment. |
