| Residents in West Berkshire are being urged to give their views on plans to target key public issues under a scheme called ‘Local Area Agreements’.
West Berkshire is one of only 40 districts chosen to pilot the scheme, which locally aims to see the police, health, councils, the voluntary sector and others pooling resources to improve local services.
The draft Local Area Agreement has to be submitted to the government soon, so public feedback is needed by the end of this week (2 Sept). If the government approves the Agreement, West Berkshire gets £895,000 to kick-start the scheme, and there’s a further £3million in government money at stake if outcomes are achieved. These include measure to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour; to help vulnerable young people; to increase the capacity of the voluntary sector; and to create more parish plans.
