Tuesday Tit-bits for Newbury
19th July 2005 7.19am

Nightlife boost

It’s all change with Newbury’s new nightclubs, with the Late Lounge and Liquid both now able to open until 3am. Gordons has a 2am licence, while the Hogshead is open until midnight at weekends, under the new alcohol licensing reforms.

Boats galore

With less than two weeks to go, organisers of Newbury Waterways Festival are looking for volunteers to spend a few hours helping make sure this year’s event is a success. The 2005 event is set for Sunday July 31, with more than 30 stalls attending, and dozens of narrowboats in full regalia. Newbury Library is also celebrating its fifth birthday on the same day with mosaic making, singing, drumming and fancy dress.

Contact K&A Trust organiser Tracy Perryman on 01635 572609 if you can lend a hand.

Good vibrations

Award-winning percussionist Evelyn Glennie plays in Newbury next week, and tickets are still available. The Scots lass performs her latest material at St Nicolas Church next Wednesday (27th), with tickets ranging from £13-£25.
