Newbury golfer struck by lightning

Last nights thunderstorms brought tragedy to a local golf course. A golfer died after being struck by lightning at the Newbury and Crookham Golf Course in Bury’s Bank Road.

The golfer was returning to the clubhouse with two colleagues when the storm broke and he was struck by lightning. His two colleagues are suffering from shock. A fourth golfer who was following behind was also slightly injured.

The name of the golfer is being withheld until next of kin have been informed.
