| More details have emerged on the Kennet Centre multistorey car park makeover.
As reported last week on this site, the £100,000 revamp means shoppers can stay as long as they like in town without worrying about a getting a fine when their ticket runs out.
Three pay-stations have been installed to take coins, notes and cards, and it is planned that users will be able to pay by mobile phone later this year.
West Berkshire Council car parks manager Martyn Baker said: “We know there is demand for pay on exit systems, so we’re sure it will be welcomed. It is hoped to introduce the same for Northbrook multistorey later this financial year.”
The move comes ahead of a rise in parking charges across West Berkshire, due to be announced on June 1. |
