Urban Village proposals out for consultation
21st March 2005 11.18am

Public consultation on ambitious proposals for the Market Street area get underway this week.

As first revealed by newbury.net, the eight hectare site between Cheap Street, Bartholomew St, Station Road, and Market Street is destined to be turned into a piazza, with flats, houses, shops and cafes, and new access to the railway station.

West Berkshire Council says the upgrade will add vibrancy to the town centre, and has produced a 91-page brief for comment by residents, local businesses, and developers.

The brief is now available on the West Berkshire website
