| Early shoppers in Newbury this morning were surprised to find that The Wimpy restaurant in the Kennet Shopping Centre had closed. No indication had been given of the imminent closure, but the following press release has been received from Plus Shops, the owners of Kennet Shopping.
"Unit 14 Kennet Shopping, trading as Wimpy, has ceased trading. Plus Shops have been supportive of the Wimpy venture, but due to circumstances, it is not possible for Wimpy to remain in occupation. The unit will now be re-let on a temporary basis, with a view to it’s strategic position relating to the cinema development proposed for the surface car park. Plus Shops have always been active in the letting of units in Kennet Shopping, and will continue to do so to maintain the vitality of the Centre."
No comment is available from Wimpy or the franchise owner, who lives locally in Thatcham. |
