| Commencing in March, the layout of the Kennet Centre multi-storey car park will be redesigned to enable the installation of a "pay on foot system".
This means that you purchase your exit ticket on returning to your vehicle and leave via a barrier controlled exit. This revamp will cost the council £100,000 to instigate, but should alleviate the problem of shoppers returning 5 minutes late to discover that they have accrued a £50 penalty.
There are no plans at present to change the other car parks. Indeed just the opposite. A new generation of pay and display machines is being introduced which will accept payment by cash, debit or credit card or by mobile phone. |
