Curry on cooking

Newbury’s newest Indian restaurant, Indigo Bay, opens this week with various spicy offerings to keep the winter chill at bay.

The Miah brothers from the Ellora took on the former Granny Pammys pram shop in Bartholomew Street earlier this year, and have fitted it out as a contemporary eat-in venue, with an award-winning curry chef promising an exciting new menu.

Bookings are now being taken for the opening night on December 30. Call 01635 35000.

Short stay toyshop

Hoggasaurus in the Kennet Centre is closing down, after just four months trading. The business relocated to the former Powerplay record shop from Devizes in the summer. More later.

Crash men named

Police have named the two men who died when their car smashed into a tree at Wash Water.

David McDonald, 41, from Cherry Grove, Hungerford, and Paul Cooper, 40, of Gore End, Newbury, died immediately at the accident in Enborne Row on Tuesday night.

A third man traveling in the car was taken to Basingstoke Hospital for tests, after dialing 999 from the wreck.
