| The Newbury Weekly News is reported to be all set for a relaunch early in 2005. Brand new printing presses are currently being installed which will enable the paper to be produced in tabloid format and full colour.
The unofficial launch date for the new format is believed to be Thursday January 20th. The original newspaper was started in 1867 by J. Walter Blacket and Thomas W Turner and has been published on a weekly basis ever since.
Over 7,800 editions have been published over the years providing an invaluable source of news and information for Newbury and the surrounding villages.
Archive editions of the newspaper are available to view in the Newbury Central Library for researchers and historians. |
