Newbury residents band together
24th November 2004 11.39am

People living in the Clay Hill area will meet next week to elect a new residents association to give them a stronger voice.

Scores of residents from Turnpike, Shaw, Manor Park and Skyllings – all part of the Clay Hill ward – are expected to turn out and vote local volunteers on to the inaugural committee.

The meeting has been organised by Sovereign Housing Association, Thames Valley Police, and West Berkshire Council, and takes place at Fir Tree School on Tuesday 1 December at 7pm.

By forming an association, residents will be able to decide their own priorities for action, bid for funding for their own projects, and lobby more effectively. Sovereign Housing has offered professional help and advice to get the committee going.
