Newbury in brief
05th October 2004 09.12am

New hours at Seymours

Newbury could soon have two nightclubs chucking everyone out at 2am. Seymours currently closes at 1am, but has applied for a 2am shutdown on Thursday Fridays and Saturdays.

Speed curbs

The public are invited to discuss speed limits on the B4009, as well as other issues, at the Newbury Area Forum this evening (6th October). Newbury police and West Berkshire Council will be on hand to answer questions on this and other roads, at the meeting in the council chamber, Market Street at 6.30pm.

New limits

The 50 mph speed limit on the A339 will be extended, unless highways engineers hear of any problems. The Sandleford Link is already 50mph, but the rule is being extended on the stretch from the Tesco roundabout to the Swan at Newtown.

Workhouse renamed

The site of Newbury’s former workhouse is to be renamed Albion Court. The idea’s come from Berkeley Homes, who are building 122 new homes on the ex-Sandleford Hospital site.

Nightclub change

New Liquid manager Marc Fear has taken over from Danny Khan at the Market Street nightclub.
