Tears of a clown

The Comedian covers the story of Jimmy Baker, who at the peak of his career who confronts his ghosts, his remarkable daughter and his love for life over a cold weekend in a seaside town. The short stint finishes at the Watermill on Saturday night, performance starts 1.30pm and 6.30pm. Call 01635 45834.

Tale of the century

Newbury Museum’s excellent display of life in the town during the English Civil War finishes tomorrow, but is well worth perusing if you have a spare hour. With costumes, trinkets and military paraphernalia collected from the two battles of Newbury, the team have recreated Stuart-era England. Free entry, and the Museum in the Wharf is open 10-4.

Corridors of power
