| Rural activists are planning to harass Newbury MP David Rendel when he visits Lambourn today.
Mr Rendel is fresh from the Liberal Democrat party conference in Bournemouth, and is visiting Lambourn Primary School to give a talk about life as an MP.
But much of Lambourn is seething with anger at Mr Rendel’s decision to vote for a ban on hunting with hounds.
He caught wind of the plans yesterday, and issued a statement saying he would not cancel his plans, and would meet to discuss the issue with the hunting community.
Last Saturday at Newbury Show, Mr Rendel was about to sit down to lunch with show organisers when pro-hunt protesters gathered outside the Agricultural Society’s marquee and began chanting “Rendel Out”. Attempts to placate them failed.
One hunt activist told Newbury.net this morning that they will hound the Bucklebury-based MP every time he visits rural areas. |
