| Two hundred Vodafone jobs are to be axed in West Berkshire. Early indications are that the mobile phone giant, which employs almost 4,000 in Newbury and Theale, expects the jobs to go by the end of the year.
The departments affected are marketing, technology and finance, as part of a three year reorganisation.
Although the company does not recognise trade unions, the company will be offering career advice, and hopes most will be voluntary redundancies.
The company sacked 275 local workers two years ago, before it moved into its £120 million headquarters at Shaw. Other departmental mergers and reorganisations have seen the headcount fluctuate in recent months. |
