Newbury is one of only three places in the South East to have more jobs than people.
More than eight out of ten of the town's 52,000 workers go to work every day, but of the remainder only 1% are claiming dole.
Another 13% of people in the Newbury area - not including pensioners - are on disability or care benefits.
The study also reveals that there's been a recent boom in workers taking second jobs, up 11% in a year across the South East.
Conversely, the working week continues to fall, with the average working week in the South East now 38.4 hours, down from 39.1 hours three years ago.
The self employed now account for 15% of the workforce in the South East.
