Yes, we had a major furniture manufacturer, A Marine steam engine and pump manufacturer with their own foundry, A aircraft manufacturer, A marine diesel manufacturer, A large electronics company, A large scale cable manufacturer and if you include Thatcham, the list goes on. |

Interesting. So Newbury wasn't ever just a small market town as some claim. |

Could we prove that the Celts weren't manufacturing marine diesels and aircraft engines here 4000 years ago? Even though it seems unlikely, I think not. We must therefore assume they might have been. Nor can we prove without any doubt that they didn't have weapons of mass destruction. For that matter, Greenham, can you prove that we're not all just part of a computer program? It would explain a lot. |

Yes, it was as it had a genuine cattle market and we had a major furniture manufacturer, A Marine steam engine and pump manufacturer with their own foundry, A aircraft manufacturer, A marine diesel manufacturer, A large electronics company, A large scale cable manufacturer and if you include Thatcham, the list goes on. |

Newbury was once a large market town, one of the biggest in the country (if medieaval tax records are reliable measures of a town's size - which is far from certain). |

Great. So developments like Parkway are in-keeping with Newbury's heritage then. |

It's going to me a market of sorts, perhaps on a more industrial scale. Seems to fit in with the heritage of Newbury perfectly. |

What utter crap! I suppose the WBC website is part of Newbury's heritage too, perhaps the Tourism officer should arrange visits! |

No same scale as it always has been. Just means moving shops from one location to another with a couple of token new shops that as usual will not last too long! Still perhaps we can utilise the south side of town to build more WBC offices to enable them to employ more staff to plan even more destruction of Newbury. WBC Just like a self replicating virus eh? |
